KHB Piling LTD works across the London Borough of Barnet, including Hendon, Golders Green, Mill Hill, Edgware and Finchley. We install piled foundations for extensions, new houses, basements and community buildings, and we have completed projects in the borough that you can review below.
Our Projects in the Borough of Barnet
Helenslea Avenue, Golders Green NW11 – 219 piles for a new two-storey building with a basement, including 163 contiguous piles of 350 mm diameter to 8 m depth forming the basement retaining wall, installed in London Clay.
Ringwood Avenue, Finchley N2 – 23 bored piles of 300 mm diameter to depths of up to 9 m, with 115 linear metres of reinforced concrete ground beams on a site with restricted access next to neighbouring homes.

Ground Conditions in Barnet and Hendon
Much of the borough is founded on London Clay, which moves seasonally near the surface and is affected by tree roots – a common reason for subsidence claims in the area. Higher ground around Mill Hill and Totteridge can include sandier deposits over the clay. Because conditions change within short distances, the pile design should always follow a site-specific ground investigation.
Piling Services in Barnet, Hendon and Golders Green
- Mini piling for extensions, rear gardens and restricted-access sites
- CFA piling for new builds where noise and vibration must be kept low
- Rotary bored piling for heavier loads and deeper founding strata
- Piled underpinning for buildings affected by subsidence or clay movement
- Basement piling, including contiguous retaining walls
- Groundworks: ground beams, pile caps and slabs
Basements and Restricted Sites
Many projects in Hendon and Golders Green involve basements under or beside existing homes. Contiguous piled walls let the excavation proceed safely while protecting neighbouring structures, and they are usually designed together with the temporary works. Our compact rigs work through side access and in rear gardens where larger plant cannot reach.
